Just wanted to give you an update on Max and Emma.
They're both doing excellent!!! Max is 7-months old now and is incredibly
smart and well
behaved. He's already learned sit, come, stay. up, down, inside, outside,
give it to me,
drop it, that's not for you, and no. He also walks very well on and off
leash. He's eager to
learn and highly food driven which makes training him very easy. He also
naturally a great
watch dog!!! Max is alert, eager, and ready to go at all times!!
Emma is very tolerant of him and loves him very much. They love to play I've
got the ball
and you can't catch me!!! Emma is a good Mama for him!!
We go out into the world every day and when people see them, they always
comment how
beautiful they both are. And some ask if they can take a photo.
Max has made such a tremendous improvement in our lives. We love him so
much!!
Being able to share my life with two well-bred German Shepherd Dogs from
your program is
such a pleasure, and privilege. Roger, I really can't thank you enough.

Sorry for the delay in sending you a letter of recommendation that could
possibly help guide anyone in looking for an awesome German Shepherd. So,
many years ago I used to help train protection dogs: I wasnt actually
doing any training, I was pretty young and I didnt really know anything, I
just wore the sleeve and the full protection suit. What I did learn, was the
vast difference between American line GSD and the German imports. I k one
day, when I was finally able to purchase a dog, that was the dog I needed to
have.
Approximately 30 years later, wife and three rambunctious kids (11,9, & 5),
our family decided it was time to add to the family. I was scared to death,
I pushed this idea of getting a GS import on my wife and kids, obviously
sight unseen. My wife comes from a family that only took in rescues. So, it
took some convincing, and in ten years of marriage it was the most
contentious, being that my mother in law would butt in right when I was
making headway. Months passes with researching different breeders, and some
were more expensive and some less, but after speaking with so many of these
breeders, I was convinced on where to go. Anyway, Roger was unbelievably
knowledgeable, and took everything into consideration. How do I know?
Because I seriously have everything I could have wanted. Roger, I need a
structurally sound, athletic GS, that I could train up to Schutzhund, that
will get along within a house that has an open-door policy with different
children coming in and out or all ages, some frequent visitors some,
deal with rather large groups of people during holiday parties. I need one
that can put up with, at times, very annoying children. A dog that will be
friendly to strangers, other dogs, and different animals (not extreme prey
drive), but also a dog that will play ball with the drive of a lab. I also
wanted a puppy, and that is something that would make having all those
things a guarantee, pretty hard to speak for. A puppy can become anything,
Roger was certainly right here, I am giving you something that can become
what you want, if I raise him correctly. Luckily, he has become it all, in
spite of my children putting a wrench in any training I try. Although, I
have taken Rogers advice, limited training until hes older. Loki is nine
months old now, and I honestly, there is rarely a time I take him for a walk
that people do not tell me how gorgeous he is, just today, a woman stopped
traffic to ask me about him, where I got him, how old, and how gorgeous he
was! It was embarrassing, with traffic building and cars honking (true
story!) I get responses like, thats what a GSD should look like. I went
through many breeders, visited many in the North East in order to appease
the family, all the while I k where my dog was going to have to come
from, it was very hard to walk away from eight week old GS puppies with
children screaming, thats the one we want daddy, please look how cute!
Luckily, he is everything this family needed, and if it wasnt, I was the
one going to the dog house. Again, he has a lot of growing to do, I received
him when he was thirteen weeks, and my crazy house isnt exactly the perfect
environment to raise a calm German Shepherd, but with all the chaos that is
exactly, so far, what he has become, that, is very telling as to the high
quality breeding our Loki comes from and I wouldnt hesitate to get another
and it wouldnt be from anyone else! He is gorgeous and athletic, kind to
all and wary(protective) when the time and place seem clear to be that way:
he has a clear mind, and will play like a beast. His first encounter with a
train that comes by the field within 20 feet he didnt blink, he just wanted
the ball. I sent that video to Roger to show the quality of nerve. He has
never ever been nauseous in our cars, when he goes traveling to visit
friends he is a perfect companion, as long as you get some energy out. His
first encounter in an open field with deer, all he did was run in between
them and retrieve sticks, he shows only an exuberance to play with any
animal. Sorry for this long letter, and I will be sure to follow up as he
gets older and I can speak with confidence as to how he goes through his
next phases of physical and mental growth. Roger, I could not ask for more,
thank you. Feel free to contact me if you have any reservations about buying
a dog overseas and sight unseen, I certainly did and it was without a doubt
the best decision I could have made regarding purchasing a family
member. I will send some pics of our Loki, from 13 weeks (he came right out
of the crate after his flight, wagging his tail and greeting the family at
Newark Airport, no signs of stress at ALL!) Oh, and in the time since weve
had him, he has had a total of five accidents (house training) in all. Four
of them were definitively a product of my laziness watching a game.

How are you? I have not checked in with you in a while, it occurred to me to
write and let you know how Jake and I are doing.
Jake will be 10 years old this year and he is in fine condition. I had him
to the vet recently, he said that Jake is in great shape and most
importantly his hips and hind end are still very strong. He wanted me to
continue to get Jake as much exercise as possible. His overall health is
wonderful.
Jake is the greatest dog there is! It is absolutely amazing how he
understands what I say to him as I speak to him as a human being. We never
need to use a leash. He is also good with other dogs. He loves going for
rides and when I free him from a sit before he runs out he likes to run
circles around the car. He has his own place in the rear seat and one of my
favorite things is to be stopped at traffic lights with his head out of the
window. He especially enjoys our Home Depot trips. No leash needed for Jake,
he heels beautifully next to me and when people see us first they look at
him, then they look at me and then back to Jake. When we exit Home Depot my
head is usually swollen with pride. Jake is an absolute carrot maniac which
has become his favorite treat. I can set a steak down on a coffee table with
confidence Jake would never go near it he is just so well behaved. Jake is
great around children and I have neighbors who trust him completely. He is
also very clean and never would think of going to the bathroom in the house.
Thanks again for connecting me with him, he has been a huge part of my life
and is my best friend.

Here is a picture with our oldest son. The kids wanted her to be a taco for
Halloween- don't ask. In any event, she is doing well. She is a puppy
with lots of energy! Most importantly though she has settled in with the
kids and plays well with them. Excellent temperament and seems quite happy.
She is excellent on the leash as she equates that with working/learning
skills. She gets a little excited when the kids run around, but that is not
her fault. She has formed quite a bond with our youngest, which is nice.
Hasn't been skittish around the animals and listens well enough that I
have been able to walk away from her in a sit position with geese and ducks
within 10 feet. She also is quite calm in the city (lots of noise, dogs,
people, sirens etc) - hasn't gotten startled at all. I think that is
quite an accomplishment for a pup!
All in she is in great shape and well on her way!

Dear Roger:
If you scroll to the bottom you will find a zip file with pics of Jay.
They are very casual and will give you an idea of some of his everyday
life with us here in Savannah. He is 100% a family member. Jay, Gary and
I are still with our wonderful K-9 trainer (retired Police) (fantastic
trainer and a truly "good guy") every Saturday to continue in both his
Behavioral Training and Bite work. Absolutely cannot imagine life
without JJ - he is so integrated into our everyday life. He starts off
sleeping with us in the bedroom on his own orthopedic doggie bed and at
some point, wanders out into the landing so he can "guard" the house as
he has an upstairs view of the downstairs and also outside! Of course,
JJ is up-to-date on all his shots. He loves to go trotting off into the
woods with us after a good run in the fields - snow, rain and fair
weather. The miles of trails here are fantastic. Yes - we have to use
the Flee and Tick stuff as well as the Heart Guard.
You can see from one of the pictures of JJ and me on the outside patio
couch "The Kissy pic" - we are definitely in love! I think it is
wonderful that JJ seems equally bonded to both Gary and me. I know it is
usually a little one sided but the three of us share equal loyalty .

Dear Roger:
I am in receipt of Wegas' pink papers. Thank you. We have been very busy
since picking up Wegas 3 weeks ago, otherwise I would have written you
earlier. He is everything we asked you for, as promised.
3 days after picking him up at LAX we drove to San Diego. He quickly learned
how to be a passenger in the back seat, taking cues to manage starting,
stopping, and turning. We took him to the home of the Chancellor of UCSD for
a nice reception for VIP guests. The Chancellor was extremely impressed with
Wegas and commented that he looked like he had been in the family for years!
We then went to dinner at The Marine Room, a fancy place on the beach in La
Jolla. He was so cute as he negotiated the stairs down, I suspect because of
the peculiar lighting. His manners were impeccable. On the way out, one of
the patrons asked if she cut pet our horse.
He is so sweet and adorable with me, and yet he is very appropriate in other
situations. When we do errands together, he is very easy. When strangers ask
to pet him, after I allow it he will only allow the stranger to touch him
transiently, certainly never looking at the stranger's eyes and always with
a message of "OK, I allowed it, enough is enough."
I take him for a mile walk in the morning in the Santa Monica mountains. He
does #1 and #2 and is set for the day. He likes the food with chicken or he
really likes a charcoal broiled burger on top. His weight seems still
slightly less and I have decreased the topping. After some relaxation after
the afternoon meal, I take him again for another mile walk. He loves to get
exercise that way. When he meets other dogs, he is supremely confident, even
with poorly behaved dogs.
On errands, people are impressed with his majestic appearance and presence.
He brings people out just to partake of his presence.
Roger, thank you again for giving me a wonderful fully trained dog with an
INCREDIBLE temperament. We look forward to meeting you in person soon.

After putting my two English Springer Spaniels to rest - one with a very
respectable show career, I decided to get back to my roots and find a quality
German Shepherd. It was my original breed growing up and my Dad and I had quite
a bit of success in the show ring - both obedience and confirmation - with a few
very nice dogs. I got away from the breed because it was destroyed in the USA -
over-bred, bad hips, bad elbows and a dilution of intelligence from what is the
most intelligent breed. I would only consider a well-bred dog from Germany.
After doing some internet searches I found Roger. I am obviously not a novice
dog person. Roger’s "no-nonsense" answers to my questions made it clear he
understood what I was looking for and I decided do business with him. With only
a photo and Roger’s word, Fritzi is exactly what I wanted - sound in
structure, a great mover, amazing temperament, high intelligence and an all
around gorgeous, loving girl - a true GSD. Now of course I’m thinking of
getting into Shutzhund training with her if I could find the time. And while I
will not consider ever showing a dog in the American confirmation ring again, I
am confident she has what it takes to win there, too.

Thank you, Roger, for all your help. Just wanted you to know that all is well.
Balu (now renamed Levi by my young grandson in Maryland) has adjusted very well
already to his name, to us, to the house and to his toys. He is sleeping
in the bedroom without a crate already and loves his back yard and playing
fetch. He gives both Nick and I lots of kisses and enjoys our walks through our
small village early in the morning to the lake. He is as lovely as you said.

Roger ...too funny..on our walk this morning...I thought about how I needed to
update you. Glad you reached out! Tigua's progress is amazing...she is
beautiful...based on the photos you sent of her parents, she has her father's
face and her mother's shiney coat. Everyone comments on how beautiful she is.
She has a lot of puppy energy and we have devoted our lives to training,
socialization, and fun...Dennis has taken her for 2 hikes in the Adirondacks
this past fall. She's very athletic and strong. One of her friends is a 2 year
old Pitbull named Fenway.
The vet is impressed with her intelligence.

Maffay arrived yesterday as planned. When we first went to get him out of his create he was
very happy to hear his name and was wagging his tail like you said he would do. We put our
hands in the create and he licked us all over like you said he would. We took him for a walk
and a long awaited pee. Then for some water then loaded him up for the ride home. He was a
great passenger in the car and seemed to enjoy it. When we got home we showed him around.
Then feed him, boy was he happy to get something to eat. We then spent the next few hours of
sun light playing ball and getting to know each other. We all went to bed early, he went
into his create next to our bed. We all tossed and turned a little getting use to each
other's sounds. I am sitting in my front yard, the sun is out and it's 70 degrees here
in California And Maffay seems so happy hear. We are sure to become best friends.
Thank you so much you couldn't have picked a better dog for us.
We will keep you updated. And thanks again.

Hi Roger
I just wanted to write to tell you how perfect Yara is. She is everything I had hoped
for and more. She has settled in so well it is as if she was born here! I have 3 little
terriers and a Great Pyrenees, and everyone gets along! That was one of the criteria
that needed to be met in selecting a dog for my home, and you nailed it! Yara is so
intelligent and vigilant. I can see the depth of her spirit when I look in her eyes. She
is confident and appears to be "all knowing" I feel so much safer with her here with me.
I appreciate how quickly you and your team put this all together for me especially in
light of my frightening break in. I finally sleep soundly again with Yara at the foot of
my bed. She is a dream. Thank you again.

Hi Roger
I wanted to let you know Sky had 5 puppies ! There are 3 males and 2 females. There are 2
all black males and one Sable male, and the females are both sable ! One is going to be
really dark sable! They are 12 days old now and are doing Great! Sky is an awesome mommy ! I
am sending you picture, In this picture Sky is 4 weeks pregnant. We about lost her a few
days later. We had a Trespasser and Sky Protected the Family but got hurt really bad, she
about lost her eye the guy hit her so hard that her eye swelled and about came out ! On the
right side of her face and her muzzle swelled up as well. We rushed her to the Emergency vet
and they kept her and had to repair her eye and put her on antibiotics they told me she was
going to lose her pups I was really upset when they told us that, Luckly she did not loose
them ! A strong dog to say the least. With the two trained protection dogs here that gave
the cops enough time to get to our place and take the guy into custody ! Since this accident
my husband has been treating Sky like it's the last day she will be here :)

Vax turned 8 months old last weekend and I wanted to send you a photo, He's such a handsome
boy who loves to work and swim. It's hard to tire him out and he has great drive. In the
Schutzhund training he is above where he needs to be for his age so we are taking things
slow and getting a good foundation. Vax loves the work !
