Roger and Dorothy, We began communicating in July of 2005. At the same time, I was visiting kennels in my area as well as communicating with breeders all across the U.S. and Canada. The dogs that I saw in my state and others were structurally and temperamentally unsound. These were the ‘top’ dogs of the GSD clubs in my area. It was so sad to see those poor dogs. A disservice had been done to them and the breed as a whole. I also spoke with numerous breeders out of the area. The thing that set Zwinger Von Himmel apart in my mind was Roger’s detailed questions. I was pleased that someone actually asked what I had in mind for her and how I would care for her. They were questions that I would ask if the situation were reversed. I was surprised that others did not ask them. I have also been amazed at the patience that you have displayed and the willingness to share information and your enthusiasm for the breed. It is unheard of in my neck of the woods. I have had a GSD previously. He was an intelligent and a sound tempered companion. Yet, he did not hold a candle to Armina. The first day I picked her up, I knew that she was a cut above the rest. She was on that long flight from Frankfurt and then had to sit in customs for a couple of hours and then I put her in a car for a long six hour ride home. (Horrible Atlanta traffic.) She did not ‘act up’ or anything. I was the one growling in the traffic, not her. When I got her home, I sat on the floor to see how she and my stray pit bull mix, Akasha, would interact. Akasha tried to prevent the puppy from being close to me and though Akasha was 5 times her size, Armina displayed the famous GSD courage. She put her head down and charge straight into my lap. (The girls, as I call them, get along great now that the pecking order has been established.) The neighbors have fallen in love with her. Although she is approachable, she quietly and confidently waits until she is approached instead of running to and jumping on strangers. I could go on and on. She is both beautiful and of a very sound temperament. I have no doubt that I have the best dog for hundreds of miles around me. Did I mention how beautiful that she is? To sum it up, she was well worth the wait. I cannot thank you guys enough. Feel free to give out my contact information for reference purposes. I would have no problem making a positive recommendation. Thanks so much,
